Proper Removal Of XBOX 360 Case

Before you can do any repair for your XBOX 360 you have to be able to get to the components inside of the XBOX case. Now, I have to warn you. If you still have warranty on your XBOX 360 from the manufacturer don't tamper with the case. Opening up your XBOX during warranty will void it and you will not be able to have your XBOX repaired by Microsoft anymore. Having you XBOX repaired by Microsoft may be in some cases the easiest solution to some of the problems that you may come into contact with when dealing with your XBOX. Don't take the warranty for granted.
Otherwise, for people that have had their XBOX past the warranty period then go ahead and open you case. But be careful, you can damage the case while opening it and that damage might have you purchasing a new case to replace it. Below, is a tutorial that will explain the entire process of opening the case.
Steps:
- Make sure the power cord and TV cords are not connected.
- Removing the face plate. It is as easy of unhooking the tabs behind the faceplate. It is easiest done with a flat head screwdriver.
- Next remove the two plastic pieces from the sides of the XBOX 360.
- Use a special tool that you will find in the video to unhook other tabs that are not accessible with normal tools.
- Now remove the front tabs from the unit case.
- Remove 6 screws from bottom to release the top of the case.
- The case is now open.

Are you having problems with your XBOX 360 hard drive? Most people are having the problem of unreadable disk when they try to load games on their XBOX 360. This is a common problem. It usually stems from two or more reasons. The primary reason is most likely either the magnet or the motor inside of the DVD player is going bad. If you look on youtube.com you mostly will find tutorials to open up your XBOX 360 and to spin the drive to unlock the motor. This is a temporary fix that could do more harm than good. Eventually, the motor will lock up to the point that it will no longer spin. Not only that keeping the case open allows for dust to enter your case that could cause a build up of static electricity that could short out other components on your motherboard. Making a simple repair even more challenging.
Instead of trying a temporary fix why not fix your XBOX 360 to the point that you would not have to open up the internals ever again.
