Get the XBOX 360 Repair guide. One gets most annoyed with Xbox 360 when all the 4 lights on the Ring of Light flash red. This Ring of Light is located on the front of the Xbox 350 console. The red light flashes on and off and plays havoc with the gaming system. As a result, this is also called the Ring of Death. This symptom could turn out to be quite a complicated one. If one is lucky, then the problem will be fixed by plugging the AV cable back in. if that does not happen, then there could be some serious issue with the console.

Since we are optimistic, we will first assume that there is something wrong with the AV cable. Either the cable is not plugged properly or the console is not reading the AV cable. One must note that this issue occurs with consoles without the High Definition Multimedia Interface AV port, also called HDMI AV port.

Learn The Easy Steps To Fixing Your XBOX 360 Today!!

The first step is to unplug and AV cable and plug it back in firmly. A proper insertion of the cable will be indicated by the fact that the larger part of the AV cable connector will be almost touching the console case. If this does not work, the next step is to make sure that the AV cable is clean. The AV cable now needs to be unplugged from the console and the metal area of the cable needs to be cleaned with a dry, clean and soft cloth. After a thorough cleaning of the cable end, it will need to be reinserted. If this is still not working, then one can try using another AV cable and try using that.

If all these steps fail to stop the flashing red on the Ring of Light, then it indicates that there is some more serious issue with the console. The inside of the console generates a lot of heat because unlike a computer, there are no cooling devices like a fan or a heat sink. This overheating can cause major problems with the console and as a safety measure, the console shuts itself off.

There is a myth that to solve the 4 red lights problem, one should wrap the console in a bath towel and then put it on and off a few times. However, this is not a good advice at all because the towel will end up insulating the console and only increase the overheating problem.

One can, of course, ship the Xbox 360 to the manufacturer or the dealer and ask them to fix it. But if the console is out of warranty, the user can end up paying a hefty amount as repair and replacement charges.

A much better alternative to trying all these tricks is to go for an Xbox 360 repair guide.
